So Kara had her 28/28 Birthday yesterday! We all went out and ate Mexican to celebrate. I've been eating such plain, blah food all weekend that I don't think my body was prepared for the Mexican, haha. But we had a fabulous time eat and drinking! I haven't spent much time with Kara's friends, but they are really fun. It was nice to just go out and not worry about anything. :) Savannah came over after dinner and told me all about her job interview. I'm getting really excited for her. Moving out to California would just be such a great opportunity for her and Shaun.
Oh and the library is still closed, right now they are saying they'll open on Thursday.

Saturday Blues
Well it's 8:16 on a Saturday morning, and rather than sleeping I'm at work. I've worked at least two Saturdays a month, for the past 3 months. Usually we only work one every other month. And I do realize that I've inflicted this on myself. I volunteered for this Saturday, so I can build up some comp. time. But after my vacation (I leave August 2nd!!) I am not volunteering for a Saturday for at least a month!!!
August is going to be super busy anyway. I leave on the 2nd for NC, and get back on the 10th. The next Saturday I work (surprise, surprise). And the the following Thursday my very exciting Library Girls reunion starts! We are actually going to have all the Library Girls in Mississippi, well except maybe Savannah. Angie arrives on Thursday night, then Ashely and Erin will be here on Friday, Karen is driving up on Saturday and of course Lori will already be here. Ashley and Angie leave on that Monday and my parents arrive Friday for the Labor Day weekend. Needless to say, it's gonna be a crazy month.
So hopefully I'll actually wake up soon, and once I get home this afternoon it's gonna be unpacking. I'm hoping to at least get a good bit of the guest room done, since I haven't even started in there.

Smoke Damage...
Well this info. comes from our resident gossip, Clinton. About a week ago the ceiling at the library caved in, in the computer area. And when it did there was all kinds of mold and mildew up in the ceiling. So they knew something was wrong with the A/C. The water was backing up and they believe that's where the mold came from. So today it looks like the A/C overheated or something and that's where the fire started. There is smoke damage in the library, and it is closed indefinitely. The worst of the damage was where the book sale was taking place. That's all I know, and since it's all coming from Clinton it MUST be taken with a grain of salt!
Fire cont...
Ok what I know so far about the fire was that it was in the top of the building. And the smoke that we saw in the back was actually coming out of the vents connected to the A/C. The building is still evacuated, and there are still trucks all around outside. We don't know about the extent of damage or any of that. Once I know more, I'll add it here.
FIRE!
So the Eudora Welty Public Library is on fire. It is across the street from us, and we can currently see black smoke coming up from the back of the building. We're not actually sure if it's the building or a dumpster behind the building that's on fire. But there are at least three fire trucks, and multiple ambulances and police cars out there. I tried taking a picture of it all, but they didn't really turn out. I'll keep you posted.

MDAH
I work for the Mississippi Department of Archives and History in the Reference Department. My supervisor just retired last month. This is the picture we took of all of us on her last day!
Trying something new...
Since I'm going to be staying in Mississippi, I wanted to try and find a way for me to keep in touch with all my family and friends. I have never had a blog before, but in this information age (and in my information profession) I thought I'd better join the masses. Let's see how it all goes!
